A Preaching Series on The Gospel of Mark
After Easter 2010 we shall be embarking on a preaching series on selected passages from Mark. The intention of this series is to help people grasp an understanding of the overall flow of Mark's Gospel. To do this we shall be taking various passages from the first 2 chapters of Mark before Pentecost and Trinity, and then taking sections from the middle and end of the Gospel.

Next to each week there is the reading from Mark for that week as well as readings from the Old Testament and New Testament. You might like to read at least the Gospel passage in the week before that service and spend time reflecting on the meaning of that passage for you. You might also find it helpful to read the whole of Mark's Gospel in one sitting (a swift reader will take about an hour to read it from start to finish) to help you see the sections we shall be exploring in the context of the whole story.

There is no way that in just 12 sermons we can do justice to the whole of Mark's gospel or even begin to unpack more than half the themes it raises. But we can offer a taster of some of the flow of Mark's story in the hope that you will take it up in private study and reflection.
