Welcome to the website for St. Peter's Church with Scarcroft, Thorner. Located on the outskirts of Leeds, Thorner is a village steeped in history, and our church has played a part in the community for many centuries. Our Priest-in-Charge is the Rev Andy Nicholson, who is also Priest-in-Charge for the parishes of Barwick-in-Elmet and Scholes. To learn more about Andy, and for contact details, please Click Here. Some of the largest private gardens in Leeds will throw open their gates to the public on July 11. About 13 homes in Thorner village will welcome visitors between noon and 5pm on 11 July. Sunflower cut-outs at the gates will identify them. Admission is £5 for adults and accompanied children get in free.
Some plants reared in some of the local gardens will be available to buy. The village has held open garden |

events every two years since 2000 in aid of St Peter's Church and last time (2008) over £4,000 was raised. Teas, coffees, ice creams and soft drinks available around the village, and of course the beer gardens in the The Fox and The Mexborough are hoping for good weather! Thorner Parish Centre is an ideal venue for smaller numbers of people. The accommodation is compact, modern and comfortable. Whether the occasion is formal or less formal parties, meetings, receptions, lectures, demonstrations and similar events can be arranged here. There is a car park behind the building.
